The Strumbellas: “Running out of time” è il nuovo singolo estratto da “Part Time Believer”

Disponibile “Running out of time“, il nuovo brano della band certificata oro The Strumbellas. Il brano è il terzo estratto dall’attesissimo disco di inediti “Part Time Believer“, in uscita il 9 febbraio 2024 su Glassnote Records, giorno in cui la band inizierà il suo tour in Nord America.
La band ha anche annunciato che Michael Bernard Fitzgerald e Dom Louis si uniranno al tour canadese, mentre Certainly So e Cece Coakley li supporteranno negli Stati Uniti.
La nuova traccia segue i singoli precedenti “My Home is You” e “Hold Me”.
Dave Ritter ha così commentato: “Berry Gordy Jr. used to say, ‘Don’t bore us – get to the chorus.’ This song joins a long lineage of songs from She Loves You and Nowhere To Run to Bad Blood and Hotline Bling that start with the chorus. It’s not something we pre-determined. We didn’t say to ourselves ‘let’s write a song that opens with the chorus!’ But while we were making the song it felt right not to beat around the bush. I guess we didn’t want to waste any more time.   If you listen closely, maybe with headphones, you can hear one of our favourite parts of this song. Somehow producer Keith Varon and mixer Ben Allen were able to gather the background vocals together into a fuzzy choir of robot angels, especially in the final chorus. The harmonies dance and sparkle around the lead vocal in a way that makes us smile every time we hear it.”.
La carriera quindicennale dei The Strumbellas comprende centinaia di milioni di stream e milioni di ascoltatori mensili su DSP, dischi d’oro negli Stati Uniti, Francia, Belgio e Italia, la classifica #1 Billboard Alternative Airplay, iHeart Awards e performance su Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Late Show con Stephen Colbert e Late Night con Seth Meyers.
Da quando si sono formati nel 2008 e hanno pubblicato il loro album di debutto, “My Father and the Hunter” del 2012, il gruppo alternativo due volte vincitore del JUNO Award ha costantemente condiviso con il pubblico dischi pieni di gusto con sfumature folk, da “We Still Move on Dance Floors” del 2013 a “Hope” del 2016 fino a “Rattlesnake” del 2019. “Part Time Believer” è una raccolta di canzoni inedite che segna il grande ritorno e la rinascita della band.
I The Strumbellas si sono dedicati corpo e anima per completare questo album, componendo e scrivendo canzoni. Dalle loro sessioni sono uscite quasi 50 tracce, che la band ha ridotto alle 12 che danno vita a “Part Time Believer”. A guidare il processo di registrazione è stato il produttore Ben Allen, con alcune tracce prodotte anche da Keith Varon, Stevie Aiello e Dave Schiffman.
Ricco di testi toccanti circondati da sonore melodie folkeggianti, “Part Time Believer” testimonia ancora una volta la lunga tradizione di fusione degli stati d’animo degli Strumbellas. L’inno di apertura “Hold Me” è una delle rare canzoni d’amore della band canadese, anche se è venata di malinconia. “It’s a lot about feeling sad,” dice Ritter “It’s love and depression, love and dark times and what it means to be loved and need love at your lowest, and what people can mean to each other when they’re down.” .
